Deep within a nightmare, or so I thought
Slipped into a world, that’s far from blue
Eyes watching me, the product of my sin
Tearing at my body, from within
Hands touching me, long blades they cut
They are surrounding me, there’s no way out
I fight the pain, it’s black, I lose my breath
I fall to the ground, just let it end
Chorus
Brought from past, it’s here
Over the edge of reality
Into a hole, deep in my soul
Look for a new beginning
There seems to be no future in a world of hate
I forget why I’m here and what I did before
Giant figure looming, footsteps shake the ground
My feet stuck in concrete there is only down
Sweat and fear invades my only sense that’s left
My skin starts to crawl, I try to run
Heavy fist pounding, knocks me off my feet
He stands on my chest, silhouette blocks the sun
Acrid smoke, burning flesh, embers impede my sight
Roaring thunder deafening, ears they have bled
I crawl through the bodies torn apart
Their bones splintered, remnants of my past
A pin head of light, shines from a crack
I tear at the ground my finger nails break
Battered and bruised, joints lock into place
Removing rock and rubble so the light can awake
I found a new beginning.

So I can't leave a long enough review to say everything I want. But I will say this, I love this EP. It's a great little follow up to times, and has just enough of a dynamic shift in sound to prove that Smoulder isn't a one trick pony with their first album's formula. This one really plays up the 70s prog aspects (DUST and Manilla Road influences definitely shine through even harder here). It's still Smoulder, don't get me wrong. Just a different side in some ways, all of which are good. playfulpooka
If Elric had a soundtrack it would be this. It's everything you want from a epic metal album. Like a hot poker in the eye, but in a good way. Scott Malthouse
